A Legacy Carved in Stone
Dedicated to Father Yemata—one of the Nine Saints who traveled from the Byzantine Empire— church whose sandstone walls are adorned with the world’s best-preserved Orthodox frescoes. These ancient pigments, sheltered from the sun and moisture for over a millennium, depict the apostles and the saints in a living prehistoric gallery. To enter this space is not merely to visit a building, but to step into the 6th century itself.
